IS 250 AWD frame question.
First time on the forum today! Have read some great threads already. My wife and I purchased a 2008 IS 250 AWD this week from a local Toyota dealer. The car looked to be in excellent condition. After a couple of days I decided to give the car a good looking over from underneath. To my shocking surprise I saw that the crossmember right behind the lower forward fairing was bent. It appears it hit something pretty hard. Now that I am stuck with the car can this be fixed? And I know that I should have looked underneath before I wrote the check but we have wanted a Lexus for so long we were smitten with the car.

Congrats on the purchase! Sorry to hear you already found something wrong tho
My advice would be to get the car inspected by a body shop if you can, make sure it's nothing serious and possibly see what it would take to repair it.

I don't see how they couldn't know either! The service records show the car was inspected and serviced when the car arrived at the dealer. The oil pan is right behind the forward engine cradle support that is bent. I am on my way to the dealer now I will let you know how it went.

Ok here is the update. I started with the service manager and discussed the issues. He immediately sent it to the back and put it on the rack. I went directly to the starbucks coffee machine inside and got a tall one. Then proceeded to the sales manager and asked to close the door. When I told him the news his eyes got as big as golf *****. He immediately left and pulled another carfax. In that time my wife came in and unloaded her side of the story and the manager started to get a little nervous. He then had a conversation with the service manager and the news was not good for the sales manager. He came back in and asked what we wanted to do. I knew what I wanted but I put the question back in his lap. He gave me three options. Find another Lexus on the lot and trade with him. The dealership would offer me cash to compensate for the loss of value if I wanted to keep it. And last if I did not like any of the options on the lot he would find me a clean 250 replacement and have it shipped in. We drove a nice ES 350 but it just was not the same as the sporty IS. So I told the manager to find me one and give me a call. If they find one they will call me and ask if I would like the car. I was really surprised they were so accomodating. I really went in with a bad fealing. I made my mind up before I went in the door that I wanted out of the car. Lets just hope it doesn't cost me too much. I will let everyone know how it goes.
