VERY NICE!!! Thanks for the comparison pics! Loving the 2012s. Can't wait to get these bad boys on mine.

I just called my dealer because I had the 3M done through them and since there's a TSIB for the headlights, wasn't sure if they will apply the 3M on the new headlights at no charge? -Service Manager didn't know bout the TSIB but said if it exists, they'll replace at no charge. Woohoo!

Thank you for showing the photos! Very slight differences IMO but I'm sure it looks better in person.

Nice! It makes sense that they would since the 3M was done at the dealership. Unfortunately for me, the 3M on my car was done elsewhere so I probably have to pay for the headlights 3M again if my car does qualify for the TSB.

Nice comparison Josh! Would you say the new color is closer to 5000K or 6000K?

Come out to Fremont tonight so we can see the difference in person.

hmm why did they change the color of the LED strip? the 2011 leds matched the color that was produced by the projector, did they somehow change the projector for 2012(doubt it)?

They didn't change it enough to make it not match, IMO.

I have stock bulbs and I think the LED's match pretty much dead-on on the new lights.

Thanks. Yes it is a very slight difference, but if you look closely at how the light is captured the blueish white tint is visible aswell as the warm yellowish tint, which amazed me.

I would personally say its a pure 6000k color. 5000k Seemed to be the MY2011 DRL strip. It was a little whiter than the OEM HID bulb

When are you guys heading out? Shoot me a txt. Im off at 6

This is the true question haha. Lexus did not mention it to anyone. My best guess would be that they wanted a pure white LED strip like the audis rather than the traditional Yellowish warm white.

I am not sure if the projector was in fact changed in the 2012 headlights. Output seems to be the same.

Very nice little write up Josh. I can attest to the difference between the two as I see them almost everyday. Small change but big difference IMO

Great write up Josh.
Glad i got 5k bulbs. They'll match my 2011 model year headlights. I was going to trade em in for the 2012's but I'll keep em now that they're officially known as being 5k in color

So Josh, Jared (Hoovey2411), I, and a handful of other CL members stared at these new TSIB LED DRL lights for a good 10 minutes last night. We've come to the conclusion that it's probably around 5500K in color. Josh has 6000K lows and fogs and at quick glance they match the LED DRL strip, but when you really look closely you'll see that the strip is still slightly warmer than 6000K. But again, it's a big improvement over the 4500Kish older style LED DRL strip. I'd say if you want it to match perfectly get 5500K lows and fogs.

I never seen a '11 and '12 side by side but i have noticed the difference when driving around and seeing other 2IS on the road, some cars LED were like ugly yellow yet others were like... LED. I thought it was 'luck of the draw' until now, thx Josh.

I was not a believer until right now LOL. Never really went to check out the lights with my headlights on. and yup the LED strip with the headlights on are a lot whiter than the old LED strip. The led strip seems a lot more crisp compared to the 2011's.

maybe its all in my head haha but its for sure whiter!
