Nice attempt, but I woulda chose a different color, maybe white or silver or grey.....or just resprayed it black. Not sure why you went with a blue color.
If you're really set on the blue, I would've just did the engine cover and leave the side & front panels alone. Too much going on with all of them painted. Not too sure what I'm looking at.
You realize there are painted engine covers, done correctly, for sale in the classifieds right? They're asking little amount of money too. Just FYI in case you want professionally painted ones for cheap.
If that heat resistant paint? If not it might not last. I am not sure if it is the picture quality, but the paint does not look smooth. If that is true, you should wet sand it and clear coat it for the professional look.
Yeah... way too much blue, especially with the front cover. Cool idea with the two-tone of the sides, but it doesn't seem to flow because there are no natural breaks on the surface. I'd do gloss black for the 3 outers and two toned for the center.
Just an FYI, this was acomplete spur of the moment idea, almost zero planning was involved. The engine covers are cheap so me and my buddy wanted to try something creative. We will be repainting the bottom and side covers glossy black tomorrow morning. Ill be sure to post some updated pictures
It looks a lot better with the all black side and front panels. It looks like they could use a few more coats of clear though. You can still see the "grittiness" of the spray paint. I recall seeing someone that had the panels a super glossy black and it looked good, but it was done by a body shop.
^^^ Looks much better. I give you credit for experimenting and trying it. Then going back and redoing it. Part of the learning process and what makes DIY projects so great. Nice job!
idk why you just didn't put aircraft aluminum stripper/paint thinner on after straying blue. Now it looks like you spray painted. The engine cover still looks terrible. Strip it and paint it a silver.
