Default Changing spark plugs

So I've been reading many posts about changing out the spark plugs and wanted to ask you guys for a second opinion. I took my car to my usual local auto shop and asked them to change my spark plugs and one of the senior mechanics informed me that it wasnt necessary to change my spark plugs. From my understanding, Lexus recommends us to change it every 60k miles and wanted to ask if it really is necessary to change it or not.

Yes, you should change them every 60k miles. Says so right in the manual.

Do it at 60k and be sure to use the OEM iridium plugs. I've read several posts where people have had issues with aftermarket plugs.

Yep. I just scheduled my car with the dealer to change them.

Do you have a 250 or 350? The 250's spark plugs are a pain to change as it requires the removal of the intake manifold. Maybe the shop is aware and just didn't want to touch it?

With that being said, my local dealer's charging me $331 + tax to do the change. It's the only service I'd have them do since I'd probably only have to change it 3-4 times before my car dies. So I'd rather have them liable since my areas too dusty and with the intake manifold off...well I wouldn't want dust getting in.

If you decide to take it to the dealer, make sure you call and ask for "spark plugs only." be very specific on the only. My new adviser advised me 5000 miles ago that a spark plug change is $500 or so. I e-mailed the dealer and they said its $331 if its sparks only.

And if you go to your dealer, go on their website to see if there are any service coupons. I found a coupon for 12% off so my $331 is suddenly $290 or so

Just got my spark plugs changed, 290 out the door, but they did take an hour longer then expected.
