Default negotiate toyota/lexus service

I have been getting my oil changes at either lexus or toyota dealerships and am sick of paying so much when I know that I can do it myself or take it somewhere for much cheaper. I just like that everything is documented on lexus.com when they do do a service. So I was wondering if it is possible to negotiate the price or if there is any route i can go from a dealer that is under 85$

I doubt they'd negotiate. It's $60 here for dealer oil change, I still do it myself though so I can use synthetic and so the dealer doesnt have a chance to curb my wheels or screw something else up...

That's going to depend on the dealer, but generally no, it isn't going to happen.

do what I do. I buy Mobil 1 synthetic oil 6 pack at Costco for about $36. Buy one more quart from the auto parts store and order a few oil filters from Sewell with our CL discount. They just charge labor.

What does the labor usually run? How much do you actually save with this approach?

I think it's over $100 for a synthetic oil change. I'd say you'd save over $25 estimating the filter costs $10 and $8 for a single court of Mobil 1 at an auto parts store. They probably charge about $20 for labor. Just a guess though. You'd have to ask your local dealer for their labor charge if you supply parts.

The dealers around here charge about $40 for labor and tax. That's if you bring your own oil and filter

Is the $85 your paying for a synthetic or regular oil change? Because if its synthetic, that's not bad for a dealership price. Around here its about $120 for synthetic oil change and $70 for regular oil after taxes and everything.

Better yet, find a good independent shop and just keep all the receipts of the work done!

I go to my local toyota dealer...no lexus dealer close to me. They charge $15 for oil change labor.

Just an FYI: you can add your own entries in the maintenance history report on Lexus' website.

I paid about the same for my oil change recently. I drive a nice new car. Saving 25 dollars is not something I go outta my way for. Plus I used the points on my Lexus card so it was free

+1 for buying the oil and filter and just paying for the dealership labor. You can get it done for cheaper at independent shops, but I like having all my service records with Lexus (better resale value perhaps) and I'm willing to definitely pay an extra $10-$20 once or twice a year for that.

I was talking about bringing in my own synthetic oil and a filter. The labor rate is the low $20-$25 range
