Also, anybody have videos of the sound yet?
It took a bit to get an answer from my dealership on what the problem was with my car (they hadn't seen a manual transmission car in 2 years). But they told me it's the transmission bearing. We're waiting for the part to come in, then it will be replaced under powertrain warranty. I found a video on youtube that sort of sounds like my problem-

Mine is going in on Tuesday to see what the tech's say. The service advisor ive been dealing with seems optimistic that it will qualify. I hope it does because i love everything about this damn car except this awful drivetrain and it would be a shame to give it up.... "fingers crossed"

Anyone knows if this tsib applies to canadian cars assell? Mine is getting pretty loud and I'd rather show up at the dealer prepared with a tsib.

Sometimes they are rather incopetent when it comes to stuff like this, specially a manual IS.

This is applicable in Canada as well. Mine is going in tomorrow, finally after bringing it in a few times. I hope this tranny and clutch swap will solve all of my problems

Glad to know. Let me know how it goes as I'll be bringing mine in at belair lexus in ottawa so they take a look at it.
I dont have the squeeks mentioned on mine but rather loud marble sound, random jerking when releasing clutch and a loud audible whine in 6th gear over 60mph.

So I bought my 2006 IS in 2009 from a Lexus dealer. It now has 77,000 miles and the clutch is slipping pretty bad. Needless to say, I don't drive it on hills. Anyway, what do you guys suppose my recourse is? Lexus wants $3,600 in parts alone to replace the clutch and flywheel. And they never mentioned anything about a TSB. They obviously didn't perform it since I haven't put a lot of mileage on it in the last three years....maybe 35,000. I'm not feeling so great about this situation.....I think I got screwed.

look for an fsport clutch, roughly 600-700 iirc,
Any garage can change it, it's not rocket science and it should run around 500$ tops

Default Update - Transmission TSB

Hi All,

Thought I would give an update as I just got my car back yesterday from the dealer. Here's everything that was worked on: new transmission, clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. The flywheel was re surfaced. I haven't had much time to drive it yet but I can say that initial engagement is much, much smoother but it is pretty rough getting it into second without a harsh noise. I had the same issue on the old transmission but it is much more pronounced on this one, I assume it's because it needs to be broken in.

I will post again in a few days with more!

Thanks

My car was making that exact same transmission noise and I took it to the dealer when I still had power train warranty and they told me that everything was perfect and that the noise is normal.

-Now I am 2 months over the warranty and I am thinking that if I take it there they may say ohhh yeah you need 4K in parts and labor

Has there been any 2010's with this problem?

I have 45k miles on my early 2010 model. Haven't seen any problems beside harsh/ grinding feeling 1st going into second. Three feels kinda weird sometimes.

Looking for options: should I bring my car in for the tranny issue.
