Default Help on is250 purchase,price?

Hi all, well first post, been a lurker on here and other forums for years, was not financially able to pick up a is250 until now.
Have been searching high and low around my area to buy wife a car , Dallas TX, for a 07-08 is250 with under 70K miles for around $18K cash. I finally found a 07 is250 with 63K has X package(18's, front lip, rear spoiler etc) and preimum(headed cooled seats) and HIDS , guy is asking $18.5K . Carfax shows two owner and one minor accident in 08. Does this sound like a good deal ? car is clean, just had brand new tires and brakes put on it, only flaws are some rock chips on front bumper and hood, and passenger front wheel has about 9" curb rash scuff on it. It drove great, sounded great.

I didn't think it was too far off. I figure to offer him $16000 and go from there. That way I will have room to get the front bumper repainted, and get the wheel refinished, then I can continue on with a few small mods.

Make sure you don't take any shortcuts and do all your homework, even if you think it's a good deal - start here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

Get the dealer service history. That way you can check and see what the car's had done, if it's gotten all recalls and important TSIBs done, etc. You wouldn't want to buy the car and find out that it hasn't gotten the cam gear and carbon build-up TSIBs done and in 7k miles you're already out of warranty. Each of those fixes is $1600 out of pocket.

Also, keep in mind that ANY accident, when described by the seller of a car, is minor. Without more evidence than just the seller's word, you can't have any idea at all what the accident was like and what damage there was. I would make sure you see pictures and receipts. Also, this should be a no-brainer, but make SURE you take the car to a Lexus dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. Ask them specifically to look for evidence of an accident, frame damage, etc.

I just bought a 2009 IS250 RWD with manual transmission from the dealer. The vehicle has 9K Kms or 6200 miles. I paid $24 800 Canadian

What package? Any accidents? I'm assuming it's the base package without heated/cooled leather and/or sunroof, because $24,800 for a '09 with low mileage sounds sketch. Should be priced around the $28 - $30k mark (in Ontario specifically).

i've done just a little bit of research, if you really want an IS, i would go with a 350 and you can go to carmax and they can get pretty much any IS350 shipped to you're location in dallas... here's just a little of the research i did...

The vehicle was bought from Aurora Toyota. The vehicle has never been in accident clean car fax. The vehicle does not have sunroof but leather with heated seats. I love the car and yes I got a great price I think because of manual transmission.

I would definitely research the accident as well. After 15 minutes of arguing with dealer that I knew he could pull up more details/nature of the accident he finally printed it up for me. The previous owner hit a pedestrian. We've had trouble with the headlight. Even after replacing the bulb it won't turn on until 2 or 3 flicks of the switch. I'm sure it's a ballast issue, but I think that shouldn't be an issue since accident was last year. Could be wrong.

Just purchased mine last year for $20K. 07 rwd, 55K, cashmere, woodgrain, sunroof, htd/cld seats, 18" wheels. Could have gotten a better deal I believe, but at that point just wanted to drive away with the car and to be honest the dealership was a bunch of weasels. Wouldn't buy another car from them, but did research long enough to know the car wasn't a dud.

I looked at several, test drove several in 3 states and very glad I didn't make a few impulse decisions. Spent about 6 months to find the one that felt right.
