Your 350 gets more than 20MPG? I average at 18-19MPG in my 350.

yes the 250 is slower however the price difference just for speed and higher insurance cost to me is not worth it...but thats IMO

$1000 - $1200 per year in NJ is cheap. I pay around $1800 for 09 IS 250, and $1100 for 02 IS300 in NJ.

Agree ! IS 250 overall save more money in long term compare with IS 350 besides after reached highway speed, anything above is ticket.
I don't know how the loaner mpg is less than 20.
My IS 250 is around 28.5 mpg mix with highways and NYC local.

Folks concerned about mileage should be avoiding the AWD system (well, folks in general should in my opinion... Tires>AWD)

Insurance is honestly more a function of driving record and where you live.

I pay like $600/yr for full coverage, $0 deductible on glass and stuff, for an IS350

iKenn,

It all depends on your driving conditions. If you're driving at low speeds primarily, it's no surprise one would get less than MPG.

Price difference between the 250 adn 350 is the most when new. I bought my 350 at a 250 price if not less.

I just stated my .02 cents on the driving experience of the car.

I get around 24-26 mpg locally+highway driving around
and I think 19 inch wheels also took affect in mileages (like 1 mpg)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I pay $1996 for 06 250awd and 98 maxima (no abs, traction control...etc) this year
No comprehensive, collision, towing and rental coverage....
but got a speeding ticket in delaware last summer so i don't know how much it would be for my next year's policy....

ugh gotta LOVE NJ...

I had a 2012 250 loaner a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was nice and light. Good power and gas mileage. I love my 350 but living in an area where construction and traffic is a constant hassle, i think a 250 would be a better choice. I love both. ^_^

At least with a loaner, you get to do the things you really would not do with your own car.

Is insurance also based on car weight? Long ago an insurance agent told me that my Camry because it was heavier and therefore, would cause more damage on another vehicle, would cost more to insure than a Corolla.

Not necessarily car weight, but the size of the car overall. A larger car is more likely to do more damage to property or other cars, but a smaller car is more likely to injure the people inside the car and won't take the same impact a larger car may. It also takes into account how most drivers would drive the cars too....i.e. drivers of larger vehicles like SUV's are more likely to be more aggressive on the road and drivers of sportier cars are more likely to speed. There are A LOT of factors that go into car insurance
