My CEL P0300 came back by the way, this after a fresh tank of gas. Pulled the code today, and got a P0300 and P0306. Dang the car threw a code again, but glad this time it's more than the generic P0300 random misfire code. P0306 refers to cylinder 6, and although cr@ppy, at least i know now what needs to be looked at. Better than chasing a random misfire.

The light doesn't turn off by itself, you have to use a code reader and physically clear the code. mine didn't go away until i did that.

Does anyone have a diagram on which one is cylinder 5?? I may or may not attempt to change this myself

When I bought it though it was on sale for $40 I believe.
I chose this over all the other ones out there because:
1) It will read generic as well as manufacturer-specific codes
2) It will read AND erase codes
3) It displays the code AND description on the screen immediately, unlike almost all scanners under $75 that just display the code then require you to check a book or website for the description
4) Price - it was the cheapest one that did all the above.
It's worked great - just used it last weekend to clear a code on a friend's car for an exhaust issue and it hasn't come back. He was going to have to pay a mechanic to look at it.

Bought a Actron scan tool # CP9125 at AutoZone $50 so I didn't have to wait & deal with this another day. Code is P0348 Cam timing solenoid bank 2 high imput voltage, scan tool says it has turned off the CEL but it never goes off. Called Actron tech help line but he didn't know if it was a non-eraseable code or if something wrong with the scan tool. Anyone have experience with this code or scan tool?

I've never had a problem erasing a code but haven't erased that particular code. If you're erasing the code while the car's engine is running (which I think it has to be), then I would imagine the code should go away. Unless somehow the car is almost constantly sensing the issue and thus the CEL never has a chance to go away.
