That's a lot of damage! Keep us posted on what the insurance does with the car. Good thing she's not hurt though.

Damn! I hope they'll be able to get you a newer vehicle. It makes me weak just looking at that!! Someone crashed in back of my old 2006 IS-250 but it wasn't that bad... :'(

I dunno about it being considered totalled...
Isn't the law in Cali that the cost has to match up to what your car is worth? I remember some states were 50-70% but correct me if im wrong.
I was in an accident, but i wasn't driving, and I had post traumatic **** going on for like a month or two
Hope you two are alright man. Good thing you guys are okay!
And that car looks freaken new!
What do they do with salvaged cars? I'd love to swap interior xD

^^^ Totalled isn't all about the cost of the repair. Other factors come into play such as flood damage, theft recovery, repairability, etc...

From the looks of it, I doubt it will be repairable... and the cost of repair may even exceed the value of the car. I see frame damage on the rear... and may also have frame damage in the front.

The bumper of the olds mobile went from the back of the car into the rear wheel... that's pretty bad.

As for salvaged cars, they usually sell or auction the salvaged car. Either mechanics will buy and then attempt the repair or junk yards will buy it.

Sorry to hear about the accident... I'm glad you're ok, OP.

Man that's ugly, sorry to see it, glad you're OK. Just on the surface it definitely looks like they'd total it. But if they don't for some reason, make sure to look into making a claim for Diminished Value, which essentially aims to make you whole by compensating you for the loss in market value of your car relative to what it would have been without an accident on the Carfax. Case law in some states supports it, not as much in others.

I will definitely look into diminished value if for some reason they decide not to total it. Its currently at the body shop now and the estimator working there said he will try to get it totaled.

Haha, I wish I can part out the car if they deem it totaled but unfortunately like others said, the insurance company won't allow that.

I'll update this post as soon as I hear more information with my insurance company. Thanks everyone!

What happens next if your car has not been paid off?
Which insurance will give you a new car?

Think about this.
If you and your girlfriend came out of this one just fine, doesn't that tell you to trust Lexus' seafety features. Buy another Lexus!
