Ive seen quite a few pic of rides with blue tape (looks like painters tape) corvering from the front lip up to about a quarter of the hood and sometimes on the side mirrors. Can someone tell me the reasoning behind this ? I think its for long drives so bugs dont get on your car/rock chips? Am i correct
A lot of my friends use the blue tape too. I might give it a shot and tape up my bumper. Does the painters tape leave any scratches or markings in your paint when you peel it off?

no problem at all. Just like nothing was ever there!
i thought it was the pre clear bra protection. the tape is put on (if clear bra isn't done that day) prior to the clear bra being put on. i've seen it done.
Heh, I'm about to make an 800 mile trip down to socal and back and this is an interesting idea (my IS is only 5 months old). I might just buy the black bra if it's cheap enough - anyone know a good place to buy that from? I didn't see it on Sewell.
Yeah I'm expecting it'd be like $100 or so while the tape costs ~$6/trip. But I make that trip often enough (probably 1-2X / year) that it might be worth the extra money to save the time on taking the tape on and off and plus it'll just look nicer.
