Default 5-6k RPMs = bad?

if i'm flooring it inappropriately just to hear the engine rev...like a lot.... will that hurt my engine? someone told me i could blow a gasket?

i'm thinking about getting a cold air intake and whats the fun if you cant hear/feel the power?

If you maintain your engine regularly and warm up your car, flooring it occasionally won't blow a gasket. Then again if you were to drive around continuously at 5k-6k not only will you waste gas you are likely to shorten the life of your engine.

Don't worry about it... that's what the fuel cutoff is for when you redline your car. If you have a IS250, revving it up once in a while may help delay the dreaded carbon build-up issues on the IS250. So rev away my friend.

Cold Air Intake won't add much power... only 10 - 15 HP. You will not feel any difference.... It's more of a noise mod for those who want the cars to make more engine noise.

+1 on it being an excuse to blow off carbon buildup in a 250

10-15HP on an intake is just not true though. Most we get is what, 5HP out of the F-Sport or JoeZ tube?

There is no CAI available for our cars. They are all short ram intakes. And most of them will actually make you lose some power. Anywhere between 1-5 hp which you cant really feel anyways. The only ones that are proven to give you 5 hp is the Joe Z and I believe the FSport, and nothing more. Other short rams like Injen, Fujita, Takeda, aFe, etc are louder though.

No you won't blow a gasket, these engines are built to be run at high RPMs. If anything the cars with more problems are the ones that never see the upper ranges of the RPM.

Its good to hit the higher RPMs every once in a while. At least once i month, i limit my car to second gear and drive around town for about a minute or so at 5k or more RPM.

I read the f-sport intake only gives about 3-5 add'l hp. I wish it was 10-15!

I rev high every couple of days (gotta stretch her legs now and again).

The f-sport intake def makes the car sound much meaner at high rpms.

Yes its ~3-5 hp. No intake for our cars makes more than 5 (Joe Z)

My bad... you're right. It's 5 HP on the F-Sport Intake.... Fsport Exhausts added 2 more HP...

Based on the IS250 dyno by Import Tuner Magazine.
