I think you guys are missing the fact that he said he went from an 08 to an 06. That in itself regardless of tires, alignment, etc is going to be the main reason the steering feels so different. So OP before you go and spend all kinds of money on tires and alignment do some research on how lexus "recalibrated" the steering so you're not spending money to end up w/ the same results.

Except I have an '06 and I don't have the problem he described, actually, quite the opposite. IMO, it doesn't have anything to do with the steering ECU changes. Most likely, it's the tires or possibly the shocks starting to fail.

i redo the tired pressure and it seem a bit better now... possibly the shocks need replacement too since i know it is a 6 years old car

have the shocks checked and alignment. if it vibrates slightly have the balance checked

Coming from a 97 Accord and 370Z, my '06 IS350 feels floaty too. I should say the steering wheel feel is light. I read that they improved the steering feel in later models though.

It's the steering ECU. Unless you chance the ECU, it will feel different.

"Floaty" and "light steering wheel feel" are two totally different things. Floaty was my '66 VW Bug at 65mph. I had to look out the windows to make sure wings hadn't sprouted. The light steering feel is because of the electronic steering and, yes, the steering damper definitely helps with this. It basically just adds weight to the steering feel.

Drive an '08 then drive your '06 and you will notice a difference.
