Bank 1 Cat Failed

For what it's worth, while I wasn't the one who inspected the car, there are some things to look at when diagnosing a cat vs. 02 sensor.
At the dealership, our Techstream allows us to read freeze frame data at time the code was set, which provides an initial look at what was going on when the light was set.
Next, they allow us to read live data lists output from the ECU, therefore allowing us to read o2 sensor readings, af sensors, etc.
With all of the data that's available, it makes it very easy to read the data stream and see where the fault is.
While I understand that you may not want to take it to the dealership, make sure an independent mechanic has the ability to read these data streams. While you may try to take the cheap route, if it is still the cat, then you just put yourself out more money on parts you didn't need.
An hour labor and at most $100 should be sufficient for a good independent shop to determine this.
That's even cheaper than an 02 sensor

Hey guys, my car got a check engine on saturday so i took the car to the dealer to get it checked out. Turns out my bank 1 cat failed and needs replacement, they want 2000 for the job, i think thats way to much! So i am thinking what should i do?? Do i replace it with an aftermarket cat or do something else?
what was the issue?
Did you get it fixed?
