Hi to all, this is my first post. I have purchased an 08 IS350 w/ sport package.
I have noticed that when a turn my lights on and off the leveling of the headlights
Differ. Some times the drivers side is up to high a lot brighter than the right side.
Then some times the right will be higher/brighter than the left. Not sure what is going
On here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Do you park on a flat surface when you start your car? If I remember right the leveling is determined by small levers/arm mounted to the lower rear control arms.

 

True as that is, left and right should still be the same, and even if you were on uneven ground when starting, once you drove the car to even ground it would adjust at that point. The auto-leveling system continually adjusts as you drive, not just at startup.

Yeah I don't think AFS has anything to do with your lights. It's just the level that both are set at. Simply needs adjustment

 

The AFS ECU adjusts the level when you first start the car and continues to do so as you drive. It sounds like there is some sort of issue, but I don't know what it is, probably an issue with the AFS ECU itself, since it's not consistently one headlight having an issue, it's switching between them.

Thanks for you help. I took the car in to the dealership (under warranty)
And they replaced both AFS actuators and some type of sensor. All is good now.

Jeff, as usual...good info. I didn't know the AFS system constantly adjusted during travel; only thought it was upon start-up.
