Default Gas pump says tank is full, but not the gauge?

So this is already the second or third time that this has happened.. Basically I'm down to one quarter of a tank left. I went to fill my car up but at 3/4 full, the gas pump clicks as if my tank was full. This has happened at different gas stations.

I tried lifting the nozzle out and let it air out, but no dice. Rather than force pump it.. I just left. I originally thought this may be pump related, but not anymore.

Thoughts or ideas?

Happened to me once. I kept pressing the nozzle till it filled up all the way (with ACC power you can the see the gauge move as you fill the tank up). Not sure what the problem was but it's only happened once!

My guess is the pump. Cause if it click off trying pumping extra $2 into it. IF it full it will over flow. If it doesnt well you know the pump is the issue.

It's happened to me a couple times at gas stations too. Dunno why, but it will click after filling to 3/4 of a tank.

I remember several years ago, one of the major gas stations in the area had a batch of gas with a higher then normal chemical mixture. This caused cars to appear full when pumping gas. It was a huge recall, and they fixed everyone's cars. I believe the replaced or cleaned the fuel pumps senders

Thanks for the feedback so far!

When I bring my car in, I'll bring it up and see what they say. I have a bunch of other stuff to have them fix... Squeaking brakes, rattling dash, smelly AC (going to try the lysol thing)...
