I tried the Rain X hybrid wiper...basically a copy of the IS250 original blade....they don't contact the windshield on the outer edge/tip of the blade.

Ideally, they would be replaced twice a year. Once in spring, the other in fall after the extreme conditions (ie. winter and summer) have passed.
+1. I find that, even with shipping, they are cheaper than my local dealer. I tried the Goodyear blades from Costco--they were terrible.

I got my oem's replaced at the dealership they cost me $10 each from the parts counter and had a tech insist he install them (for free) even though a trained monkey could do it just as easily. The oem work better than rain-x or piaa I've had both on my truck.

The inserts are just the rubber. You need the arms, and the metal rails that keep the rubber straight. You can't just buy the inserts if you don't have the entire original blade--I would have to think that Sewell sells the entire blade too.

Sewell has the entire blade here.

Wow, $48.93 for both of the arms, not even including the rubber inserts

Same with my Dad's GS and I just went ahead and changed it since I bought a few rubber inserts from Sewell and got one also for his car as well.

100% go OEM. My local Lexus dealership replaces the inserts for just $20. If you have an aftermarket wiper then id suggest getting a whole new setup using RainX blades. Best whippers besides OEM thats ive used.

Didn't see an answer to this.
Generally there is a cover to pull off at the base of the wiper arm.
Ratchet off the bolts holding them down and then just work them loose.
(I'm assuming you were asking about the entire wiper arm...)

An aside concerning rainx blades, I've seen a lot of the newer wiper blades being ambedded with graphite so applications of treatment not only are not needed but I believe they reduce the wipers' efficiency...

.
That may be the way to remove the arms, but there is no need to remove the arms, regardless of whether you are replacing the whole wiper blade or just the inserts. There is a little plastic tab you flip out of the way, and then the blade just unclips from the arm.

Very true. I change windshields and the whole arm removal is what came to mind since the blade removal is so simple...
