Best method to repair cracked paint from fender rolling?
#17
For those who assumed otherwise/wasnt clear to begin with, it was done by a reputable shop in Houston who was informed of the prior work on the body panel. A heat gun was used but they assume the paint was layered on thicker and thats what likely caused the paint to crack. Rolling fenders is not fail proof. *see google *
Sadly, this is the truth. Just bought that LMS Kit though!! haha
I have pictures from the repair work and it didnt look like bondo was used, and the portion that was most deformed was at the highest point of the fender, not where it cracked. It was just a light tire rub from a jeep that caught the fender in a parking lot so it was just reworked and painted as far as pictures can tell and from what i know. Your truth comes in the suggestion of cutting the outter portion and rolling the upper most area. Live and learn, for sure.
Thanks for those who helped and didnt venture off-topic.

You need to understand why it cracked. You said there was prior damage to that panel. Most likely theres a thin layer of bondo, bondo is not as flexible as paint, that is why it cracked.
You should have used a cutoff wheel or dremel and cut the inner lip off and rolled just the tip. We live and learn!
