i read a post earlier about a high pitch sound on a car. when i turn on my car it has a somewhat loud buzzing sound. if i turn off my ac it stops immediately. is this the drive belt? is it important i get this replaced asap? thanks for your input!

Definitely not the belt, as the belt is constantly moving whether the A/C is off or on. Can you tell whether it is coming from the engine bay or what? I'd grab someone to help you test the A/C. While you hang over the engine, have the person turn it on. You should be able to narrow down where the noise is coming from. I leaning towards the A/C compressor.

loud buzzing could be a/c compressor, squealing when under load could be drive belt. any abnormal noise should be checked out asap if possible to prevent any damage

i had similar problem and it found to be a loose nut where the ac belt is found.
