I did some reading and found an old post on another forum where one guy had the exact symptoms i'm having:

1) the car drives fine up to 40mph at which point it vibrates

2) the vibration gets worse up to about 60mph and then decreases a bit

He had aftermarket wheels and used hub rings too but he decided to swap them out with new rings and the situation was solved.

I'll keep everyone updated. Hopefully I can get this fixed this week

i can't imagine a set of hubcentric rings giving you issues - unless the center bore of the LC818's is larger than the hubcentric rings you are running.

Plastic hub rings are a joke. I can't imagine AWD being as sensitive as it is to geometry changes, not have issues with plastic junk. I tried many of those "universal" plastic and aluminum rings. Junk!

In my experience as both a car spec oriented individual and someone with common sence to try the unthinkable, I gave it a shot with getting custom hub rings manufactured to the following spec: 60.06 and 73.30... To my delightful surprise they fit so snug you would think they were part of the wheel. Made from billet as well.

After having countless people at every one of the 5 shops I went to tell me hub rings don't matter. I said f'k it I'm popping these custom made hub rings that fit so perfect you'd can't wiggle the wheel on the car's hub. I had them balance the wheels with the new hub rings and...

...yes the car felt 1,000 times better. Felt like I had just bought the car. So smooth it was just right.

now you got me worried because I was going to put on my LC818's in another week or so with the supplied hub rings....maybe i should invest in getting better ones also.

I had this same issue with my passenger rear plastic hub ring as when i went to swap back to stock the issue was solved i also noticed that the hub ring looks to have been chisled down or something but you could clearly see damage to that ring itself

Yeah I went to stock for now and I took the rings off to examine them and when I put them back on, I realized two of them were pretty loose. They had a very tiny bit of wiggle room and if you lifted the wheel, they'd fall right off. I have new ones coming in tomorrow so hopefully this solves everything.

Update//

I got the new hub rings and they didn't fix the issue. These rings are significantly tighter fitting than the previous ones yet they still vibrate at 40mph when I let off the gas...

Anyone think I should bring it to another shop to re-balance it?

With no rings I wouldn't be able to center the wheel...so I have not. And I am not running a spacer.

At this point it leaves me to believe the shop I took it to did NOT use the road force machine properly. Or they left the margins too wide. It's just weird that I'd get vibrations at certain speeds which leads me directly to wheel balance. It's certainly not a suspension or drivetrain issue as if it is, the car would vibrate with stock wheels too.

And I've checked my tire pressure too. I'm about 37-38 front and rear.

I'm planning to get all the wheels re-balanced and potentially have the tires remounted to see if that helps. And I might get an alignment too.

Hopefully this solves the issues

i thought the AWD's have a vibration issue when you lower it?? simply because its a AWD..??

so all u need is hubcentric rings and the vibrations go away on AWD???

im lost..

Are you using the correct style of lug nut for your wheels? What lug nuts are you using?

Okay so after a few trips back and forth, I still have no solution.

I'm using McGard spline drive lugs that are sized for our cars. I had the wheels rebalanced 3 times and it came back fine each time. I had an alignment done as well. I'm out of ideas now.
