I have an IS250 AWD, 2007 with 120,000 miles. The dealer advised me to have the alternator bearing changed to stop the squeaking sounds at the cost of $965.00. Is it time to have this car replaced?
unless you've had a number of repair expenses with the car, no. a grand isn't much to pay after 120k miles of faithful service, under the assumption that your particular car has been as reliable as the vast majority of our cars have. that, and you're out of warranty anyhow, so going to a reputable independent shop would save you a considerable amount.
whether you want to replace the car out of desire rather than necessity is another issue.
