Re-setting ECU doesn't work...

Go get the scanner and see if you can pull codes. Or else take it to an auto store and they can scan your car.

P/S ECU just went out on my 2007 Lexus IS 250 also. Doesn't seem to be available from LKQ salvage. The cost is $750 from the dealer. I had to get towed.

You're missing the other digits. 89650 is only half of it maybe that's why it isn't showing up on LKQ.

Is your IS250 AWD or RWD?

Jeff

For everyone in this predicament, check the EPS fuse near the battery. It's 80Amps and non-servicable as it is fusible link. Look in your owners manual for details.

Do a search for PN: 82620-30170 and take note that most will be able to visually inspect the fuse and see that it is A) intact and OK or B) burned open like a standard ATC (Z shape) fuse...

Look here: EPS 80A....
Note: bad angle but these are all good.

I've seen a DIY pop up a time or two. That should be stickied as many seem to blow the EPS fuse during alternator swaps and/or result of dead battery/alternator swap. I'd like to know how they do that? That said we don't even know the fault from original post.

Likely cause is jumping dead car with reversed leads but no one admits that.

Speculation says the EPS unit having an 80 amp fuse and being a DC device, it has some serious circuit protection in the form of fast switching high current diodes. Once polarity reversal occurs, current flows, the diodes reverse bias protecting the EPS unit and BAM, a direct short occurs blowing the 80AMP fuse.

My best guess at least.....

I found some salvage ECUs on Benzeen Auto parts in Rancho Cordova but my mechanic said the ECU is not responding when he tries to program the steering angle/calibrate it.
I contacted Benzeen and since the ECU has a 1 year warranty they sent me out another one. I hope the next one works, otherwise I don't know if my mechanic can troubleshoot it.

Hi Jeff.
It is a RWD.

By the way, the code pulled for this P/S light on my car was C1554

View 2013FSports post. Have your mechanic check the alternator, fuse, and battery. When the power source is interrupted the ECU shuts off the motor relay circuit. These cars do wierd things when threre is a power source issue.

Thank you, I will ask if he checked those.

The second ECU that Benzeen sent out worked! I'm so happy. Thanks everyone!

My Fix

My power steering goes out but after turning off car and back on, works again until a sharp turn. Found it to be a loose wire to the P/S ecu underneath the battery. Hope this helps.
