Bought my car used and noticed some of the leather molding around the center AC vents were tearing away/"chipped". I was wondering if you all know how to fix this or if it can be fixed. Its not super bad but still noticable and I plan on keeping this car for as long as I can so I want it looking clean as possible and this is one of those things that just bothers me. Spoke with Lexus and the lady on the phone said yes she thinks it can be fixed but I need to come in for the service dept can look at it. What do you all think?
i don't know what they do but my uncle's gx470 got dashboard fixed by dealer once ( lot of dins on the dash during the time dealer fixing his navigation)
Looks like someone was trying to get the vents out of the OPs car. I made similar damage doing it myself. I heard it costs around $900 to have the dealer replace it.
Hmmm $900 for the entire dash? Does that include labor and you should find out how long they will need your car...Could be worth it if they give you the loaner...Someone say Donuts!!! J/K
^^ YEah i understand but if leads to that and cant be fixed then Ill go that route. First going to see if they can fix it without charging an arm and leg. Dont have warranty so we will see.
Minor cosmetic issues come with the territory with a used car. If you go around fixing all the litte things like that, the costs will escalate to the point where buying a new car would have been better.

I agree. These things to come with buying a "used car". Did you notice such damage when you negotiating and purchasing the car? Also looks like someone was not being careful when removing your air vents in the past. If you get the work done, you should pay attention to see if there is any more damage to the interior of the IS once all the vents are removed.
Best bet would be to take it to your local dealership and see how much it would cost to fix it and then take it to a local show that specializes in car interiors to see if they can fix it and get a price quote. Compare and pick the best financial option. Good luck.
For $900 and get the same cheap material that either melts or scratches easily, I would go to a reputalbe shop and have them cover it in leather matching the seats.
Have someone make you some frames that will soround/cover damaged areas but also that will fit perfectly around vents.
