stealership or dealership?
i went to lexus yesterday as i have been having problems wtih my 06 is 350. the car doesnt feel the same as it used to. Within the last couple months my steering wheel has gotten more "play" and feels less tight. I get a sense of sway when at high speeds and my alignment wont hold. I took it to the dealership and they told me to replace my caster bushings. They quoted me 745 with alignment. In addition they said they found an oil leak (very small) and want to charge another 125 for diagnostic on that. What do u guys think. do u i need to have the bushings installed there? does that seem likes its the problem. any feedback would be great.

have you tried taking it to a reputable auto shop anywhere else? Perhaps they can get a feel of it and give you a free quote of what you really need done. I would at least check 2-3 other shops to narrow down the issues so nobody rips you off. If 2-3 shops say the same thing then theres your answer. Just dont mention that you had whatever issues quoted from Lexus. Just your issues with the car and that you want t have it checked out. Most shops give free estimates.

When spending anywhere over $500 if its not on simple things like tires/breaks ect where you can replace easly yourself take it to another good shop for another opinion. Try Toyota dealership also. It's not uncommon for the Lexus dealership to charge a bit extra...like I wrote yesterday in a post...They have to pay for those free cookies, ipad stations and massage chairs some how.
FYI: Its ALWAYS a good decision to take video/picts of your car at the shop before they service it, most techs wont admit to scrapes, scratches ect.

If I remember right those caster bushings can be easily replaced DIY-style with some garage tools and jack stands. The problem is figuring out which caster bushing you need, because they make various ones with embedded different degrees of caster. After the install, feel free to take it anywhere for the alignment.
