I think there was a DIY on this.
As far as tips go, take your time warming up the headlights and separating the lens from the housing. Use a butter knife or flat screwdriver. If it doesn't separate on the first try, warm them back up and try again. I believe it's 225 degrees Farenheit for about 7 minutes...but do a search for the DIY.
You can scuff the chrome reflectors but use a fine grit sandpaper 320 or finer or a scotch-brite. You can use a primer and paint with either a flat, satin or gloss black. It's all a matter of preference. I went with the flat black but others like the shiny look of the gloss.
You can paint the orange reflectors, if you don't like them, or leave them alone.
Warm up the pieces before putting them back together and use a clear silicone, like the fish tank silicone to seal the housing. This is a guarantee to prevent it from getting moisture in any unsealed portion of the headlights.
Good luck!

Thanks for the tips I highly apreciate it. I came across this video on Youtube , which shows how to
Open up the headlight with a heat gun. I think I will end up using the shiny paint I'll post pictures when I finish .
