Not all bras yellow over time. And you are driving a new Lexus... a clear bra costs a lot??? Interesting. The bluie tape looks terrible in my opinion and you need to protect your vehicle all the time... not just on road trips. Not to mention the headlights are not covered... and once they start getting pitted they will begin to oxydize.
See I partially agree with you on the whole it looks terrible and you need to protect your vehicle all the time. I have clearbra on my car and I still tape it up for long rides. Yes, you should protect your vehicle at all times but you also are far more susceptible to damage on 1000+ hops, not to mention if you travel 20+ hours, you'll get bugs all over your car which chew up your paint. I'd personally rather not have bugs all over my car for 19 hours, even on a clearbra.
Then there's the added effect of pulling off tape when you arrive at your destination and having a (relatively) clean car.
Not practical for 30 mile rides to work, but chances of getting tons of bugs/etc on your car during this period isn't as bad as 2000+ miles.
heres mine i did just for fun after reading one of the blue tape threads. I had to make my journey back to Texas so this made the drive more enjoyable.
Lol i hope u know the blue tape isn't somethin ppl keep on, on a daily basis. Ppl put them on usually for the track, or road trips. And yes i do protect my car at all times but i really don't do much highway driving. And I got 500-700 quotes on what I wanted covered with the clear bra on my area. Not an investment I've really wanted to make. And most clear bras I've seen turn yellow over time.
I know exactly why people put it on... and I still think it looks ugly. You are taking a $40,000+ car and applying tape to it... instead of investing in something that will keep the car looking new. What people dont understand is that you can get rock damage anytime you drive... not just on the freeways or long trips. And again look at most 4-5+ year old Lexus vehicles and a lot of them have oxydized headlights. But to each his own.
