Default Changed air filter ..... had surprise ....

So I decide to change my air filter that has been in since the car was built in 2/06. Pop everything off, undo the four clips on the airbox and slip the old filter out (very clean). Saw a few moths and bugs that had gotten in under the filter, but wait a minute, what's that furry thing in the corner? Yep, some kind of little rodent had somehow crawled into the airbox through the inlet opening. The thing was totally dryed out and mummified and had all it's hair. Car is always garaged so don't know where she hopped a ride, but rather have her dead in the box than nesting and eating my wires. The car was originally sold to a Colorado Springs, CO dealer and sat on their lot for about four months, so I suspect that it has been in there since I bought my car. (Thanks to Mrs Evitzee for using one of her kitchen tongs to fish this hitchiker out while I held the flashlight.)

Wifey says it was a female. About 3" long + tail::

Haha oh man that's crazy! Kind of cool if you think about the amount of air the rodent experienced before its passing.

Better than this though:
I used to go to this lot in LA that uses their cars in movies. Well I moved one of the cars around to prep it for a show and there was this weird smell when we got it back. It sat in the heat for a couple days and the smell got worse. A cat was in the engine bay sleeping....

Hell, yes, first thing I did was tetl her to bring some long tongs out to the garage as I needed her help. She fished it out and threatened to put it down my shirt, so now I 'owe her one'.

Question, why did you JUST change your air filter? You had it for six years without a change?

No wonder some of u guys have terrible smell inside the car lolz. Clean your filter every oil changed, if u didnt change for long time up grade to the carbon one and remember to clean it with air hose. . A few years back there was a guy in Wisconsin had a few rats and corns inside his filter also lolz.

Because the car sat for a lot of that time as I worked away from home ..... car only has 28,000 miles on it. Maintenance schedule says replace it at 30,000.

Cleaning it every oil change (5,000 mi) is overkill unless you are driving in very dusty conditions.

I guess you haven't heard of the "F-Sport Hamster" mod then... Good for 3hp as a previous poster mentioned.
