Default Wiring Radar Detector - Valentine V1

I just got my IS350 and I wanted to wire my radar detector so that it turns on when the engine is running, but goes off when the car is off. Im not sure which wire to tap into, but I think I'd like to do it on either the sunroof or the dome light harness? Does anyone know which wire is the best to tap into up there?

I found the answer I was looking for in the link posted I think. I want all the wires to remain up top near the dome lights so I am going to tap into the violet wire on the sunroof harness and see if that works.

You can tap into the rear view mirror. Stealth Cords used to sell a pre-made cord for this, its basically just the V1 phone line looking plug on one end and 2 wires on the end that you simply tap into the back of the rear view mirror. I have it, works great but it appears Stealth Cords shut down... was like $12 bucks too.

Just tap into the rearview like the linked thread says. That's what I did. You also don't need a stealthcord. I just used a black phone cord that i stripped and spliced.

+1 on the Stealth Cord. Looks fantastic & was easy to use.
There's other brands that do the same thing, Try ebay.

Yeah, I think I am going to try that because I tried tapping into the violet wire as mentioned in the link above, and that did not work.
