Default Making A Custom Grill

Thinking about trying this mesh with the outer grill surround...

I like the blitz grill, but $800?! You got to be joking me... so I think I'ma try this is an alternate.

Thought?

Do a search. There was a thread about the custom front grille that other members were making, and experimenting with different style mesh (honeycomb, diamond), different sizes, etc. They even had pictures.

you'll find some examples here:

and here:

i ventured myself to mod my former blitz grille by swapping the wire mesh to a honeycomb mesh

more info in this post

i'm pretty sure it's possible to fit these meshes into the outer surround. good luck!

Another idea when it comes to grilles - is it a good idea to try to make out own wire mesh grille? Just buy a rectangular piece of wire cloth - say maybe 4 micron? ( http://www.bwire.com/index.html ) - would be metallic in color - but could always be painted black. Most likely your best bet would be to use stainless steel as that would last the test of time without rusting - hence - stainless steel.

Has anyone ever tried anything like this before? I have my aviation snips ready, just need to order the piece of mesh and go from there - will washers and bolts be the way to go when fastening?
