Default Opinion from the AWD gurus?

Vehicle:
08 is250 awd

Suspension and Wheels:
Stock

Want to keep factory 17's
Next month H&R springs

Want to keep the stock 225/45-17 tires on the front and add 15mm spacers.
Thinking 255/40-17 on the rear with 15mm spacers as well.

Now I'm familiar with the 30/70 split and percentage for a staggered fit.
The 255/40 is the exact same height, and by sheer luck the identical rotations per mile as the 225/45.

So...
Will the 255's work on the rear with the aforementioned setup?

Yes I know "just get bigger wheels", but I like the factory wheels.

Thanks freaks!

as long as you have the same rotating diameter. you are good..
I am running 245/30/20 in the front and 285/25/20 in the back...
the minute you put diff size rotating diameter, you will get an AWD warning.

Yes but you will have to buy all new tires. Cause tread ware needs to be even on awd. Can't just slap on the rear and call it a day. Must always keep same tread/tire brand on all four. No rotating tires so you'll be going threw your tires more quicker.

Putting a 255/40 on the stock 17x8 wheel may be a bit too beefy. I'm pretty sure It would work on the Staggered wheels from the 2wd though.

As far as I have experienced...You don't have to be exact on rolling diameter. The way my car sits, it's around 0.7 mph difference between the front and back tires and I haven't noticed anything unusual. Just keep it as close as possible with the setup you want.

The BMW x-drive you can run up to a 5% difference and the dealer will tell you its okay! Not to mention that from the factory, Mercedes and BMW come with staggered setups on their cars.

If it were a Subaru or an Audi I would advise against staggered altogether. They're more finicky

However, these are just my opinions based on what I've done and seen. Do whatever you think will suit your needs the best
