An IS F is not always a wise choice .... they are not that much quicker on the street than an IS 350, they ride harsher, and insurance is usually more. I'm not sure why people immediately think an IS F is a great stepup, it isn't for most people. If I was the OP I'd save up a bit more money and then buy a decently equipped IS 350, a few nicely selected options makes the drive a lot more satisfying.

If you've driven a IS F you'll know the ride is harsh compared to a stock 350 and 250 but if you throw coils or springs on its gonna be just about the same. Insurance would 20-50 bucks more a month at most not an amount that would make or break someones wallet. I test drove a 250,350 and F before I bought my car. Only reason why I bought a 250 bc I needed the AWD for the harsh winters here. I couldn't justify spending 40K+ on a 350 AWD when I could get a IS F for under 40K easily. I wanted AWD more than I wanted more HP so the decision was a no brainer.

Yeah why not ISF if you have over 30k budget, or if you want to save more money and spend extra cash on mods or something else, you can always buy used 350 and it drives just like brand new.
I bought mine used but i test drove brand new 350 and didn't feel any difference 99% same.

I would not recommend an ISF at all. Are you an auto racer? Do you track your CL? The OP stated he was satisfied with his Acura's 217 hp. The ISF is a monster and not a practical car to own, or at least not as practical as a regular IS. Figure tires, brakes, insurance, fuel consumption, police and theft attraction, less warranty (used), and that's just off the top of my head. Sure, if money was no object we'd all own ISF's. But it's not our money, it's his.
My advice would be to do more research. Do you know the 0-60 times of your CL? Do you know the 0-60 times of an IS250? I bet they aren't that far off at all. The Lexus 2.5 V6 is a very refined engine, smooth, quiet, efficient, and peppy for everyday normal driving. I had a similar concern when I bought mine but it turned out to be totally adequate for daily chores. For the average consumer and everyday Joe, Lexus chose a nice spot with the IS250.

Thanks a lot for all the great pointers guys.... the only reason I am interested in the 350 is due to the extra 100 HP...
I currently drive a 2001 CL which has 217 HP (FWD).... If I go for the 250, will it be a major drop form my current engine power? (I am completely satisfied with my current power). Also since my CL is almost 11 years old, will it still be pumping 217 as advertised?
