Exclamation Got Pulled Over.. Need Some "Guidence"

So Basically, I Got A Ticket In The Labette County Area In Kansas For Doin 85 In A 65. The Cop Told Me It Was 87 But Ended Up Writing It For 85. This Is My 1st Ticket Since I Started Driving When I Was 15 Which Was In 2006 or 2007 i think. I told the cop that and he laughed and said your not getting a warning for this.

Now, I was NOT 20 over. i was 20 exact. can anyone tell me what i can do so it dont come in my record or in my insurance because i am 21 years old and a speeding ticket is not helpful at all.

Anyone Know Any Rules ETC?

I've heard of Paying Double The Fine And You Will not Have A Record Of It.
If Someone From Kansas Can Please Fill Me In.
My Dad is Gonna Open Up A Can Of "Whoop ***" If I Tell Him I Got A Ticket.

I remember doing a 65 on a 45. Get a lawyer to clear up the ticket in court is the best thing I would recommend considering your mph. Thought my mom was gonna woop my ****. Instead she said just take care of it since you had the guts to go that fast. Good luck man!

If you're 21 and your dad is gonna open up a can of whoop a** on you over a speeding ticket then you definitely got some problems. I thought paying double the fine thing was just a myth but anyways I googled it and came up with this http://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/li...n--202678.html

Seems like the main reason why you're worried about the ticket being on your record is bc your dad is gonna find out so I would just man up and tell your dad about the ticket and drive slower next time. Getting a lawyer is gonna cost more than your ticket.

Go to court... Pay the fine... And ask the judge for traffic school to remove the point. You seem to agree ur guilty so no point in trying to deny it in court. I dont know about where u are but here if u go to court and admit guilt when ur are guilty the judge usually reduces the fine... This also allows u to take traffic school. When u fight the ticket as not guilty it automatically disqualifies traffic school as an option.

U'll waste money on an attorney for this one

Going to traffic school does not always clear up your points. You will always get some kind of point when getting a speeding ticket. But as the other guys state, it really depends in where you are located. Different states and counties have different restrictions.

well, my dad paid for my car, my insurance and everything else including gas etc. And I still live with them. if it was 5 or 10 over, i would tell them but ima end up losing my keys to the car if i tell him. Money is not a problem, i will pay whatever but i dont want it in my record or anything to do with insurance.

Kansas does not have the "point system" they just suspend your license after 3 big moving violations.

Thank You All For The Reply.
I'm going to go talk to the City Attorney Tomorrow.

What's the use of going to court to say you're guilty? Lol. Isn't the whole point of going to court is pleading your innocence?

You Know Its Cheaper To Pay Double The Fine Then To Have It Go On Your Insurance? That Can Get More Expensive.

Not in CA ... I'm surprised this is news to u... San Jose cops are pretty strict from what i know. Or ur lucky enough to never needed to go ^_^ I've done this in the past and my fine was cut in half just for showing up to court.

But as mentioned... Everyone here in diff states had different experience as laws vary

Why were you speeding? If you're going to speed, get a Escort Redline!

There maybe a way out. Depends thou. A quote from one the threads where someone was speeding and got a ticket.

The infraction will be held (nothing will be written on your record) for a year and will be destroyed (as if nothing happened) if these conditions are met. First is you have to take a driving education class which you have to pay for. The other is, you cannot get another infraction within a year - if you do, the one ticket held, will be written into your record, plus the new one.

I See...

Well, Every State Has Different Laws. I Would Think That Original Poster Was In California.
So Far, I have Heard That My Town is Greedy For Money And That The Judge Will Tell Me To Pay Double And no record Will Be Found.

A Person With 36 Tickets Since He Started Driving At Age 16 Told Me This. He Is About 28 Now i think...

I'm just kind of freaking out cuz of the damn thing.

I Mean, I have been driving for 5 years now, i got my permit at 15 and have been driving since and have never even been pulled over for seat belt etc.
I Would Think That They Would Give Someone Like That A Little Le-way. There Are Not Many Teenagers Without Tickets, If You Know What I Mean..

P.S. The Irony Is That I was Looking At Radar Detector's This Morning And Was Looking At The Beltronics Pro 500 Or Pro 300.

Most of the time officers will put u lower than the clock speed to save you money. I got pulled over doing 85 on a 55 and the CHP didn't even give me a ticket... He was like since I'm so honest and its a Sunday he'll give me a warning. Lucky me.

Yea, he Told Me He Clocked Me At About 87. And He Wrote It For 85..
Which Comes In 20 MPH Over The Speed Limit And Better Chances Of Getting Away With That Then over 20+ MPH.
