The IS steering wheel moves up and away instead, seats don't move. I like this better than when the seats move.

If you want your seat to move back then just set one of the three seat memory buttons to the furthest back position and hit the button when you put the car in park.

Not good idea, even if you can program it to make it go back when you open the driver side door or put it on park, if you have passanger in the back seat or car seat you will squeeze him, Lexus IS doesn't have switch for seat auto reverse on/off like in onther cars.

On a related note... Sorry don't mean to jack the thread

Does anyone know of a way to use our programming seat positions when the car is in drive? Seems like it only work in park (probably for safety reasons)

Not possible as it comes from the factory as it would be considered a safety issue, and I would tend to agree. Normally I don't like all the safety interlocks built in to our cars, but you don't want someone pushing buttons that may move seat way back, or steering wheel out of the way while barrelling down the freeway. Some things are just common sense.

programming in a way that while you are driving you can program the seat, in case you need to move the seat back a little with the controls on the bottom of the seat or adjust the mirror then just save it in the memory without going on park. i know the RX has this option just seeing if this is just a default locked option for us?
