Next IS will include a 2-door, but I wouldn't expect that at rollout at all.

The delay is only going to hurt the brand, and slow sales. Buyers will either (1) wait for the changed model, because they know it's coming eventually, or (2) look to another brand. By not updating the '13, makes the IS the most outdated visually and technically of the Lexus lineup. To all those thinking the lack of changes helps theirs, you're in serious denial, and missing the big picture.

To those concerned about the lack of a new redesign for 2013, I think it was more of a business decision. The 2IS design has been a GREAT revenue generator for Lexus especially since the best selling models 250 and 350 are based on on the body essentially. I think Lexus is trying to milk out another year of sales with this platform before taking the risk and moving to the next gen. If someone can find the data I'd be curious to look at 2011-2012 sales for the IS's, GS's, and the RX series which are probably the top sellers. Was there a drop from previous years or were they still strong? That'd be a huge factor for keeping the line up.
I see this like the Acura TL circa 2005-2009, before the horrid redesign. Acura had a great looking and best selling car during those years and with the new TL design, sales took a hit. Looks like Lexus (with its conservative Toyota strategy of not sacrificing long term gain for short term profits ) is sticking with what works for another year.

^^ strong arguments by both Timbo and Pdpg. I have to side more with Timbo though. It may be one of Lexus' best sellers but I'm sure ppl are anxious considering most of the Lexus line has already been redesigned and especially for those that lease cars. Their lease is prob gonna end soon and they will wanna jump ship to another brand bc they won't want to get basically the same car with a few new bells and whistles and they won't have time to wait for the IS to refresh

well i had the 08 on a lease and last year got an '11. so if next year we get a new design, ill wait a yr to have lexus clean up some bugs with the new design and hopefully by then their will be some new mods out for the 2014 model. so i think im in good shape as of now

^ its good to think that way not too many ppl do that. Somethin new comes out and they want it ASAP! Main thing I hate about the first model of any car is the ugly amber corners on the tail lights. Then 3-4 models later it'll be clear or that pinkish red that's almost clear. You would think by now the guys that manufacturers would realize no one really likes Amber corners on their tail lights.

As for the taillights, truly I dont think its about the amber, its more about going AGAINST whats available.. when taillights were amber everyone wanted the euro look, when the clear corners come out everyone wants the "jdm" amber LOL
