2013 IS Info Released from Lexus News Room
#31
There use to be a place on Lexus.com in the Knowledge Center that showed a breakdown every year for every model of how many Lexus produced of each model. I'm not talking about sales but how many were actually built. But I don't see it anymore.

WOW! sales have dropped nearly half! I bet some ppl have gotten fired after the head honchos saw those numbers. I would have expected more out of the 2011 with the semi refresh

I think the main thing to consider here is an "if." If they did introduce a new IS in a timely matter (2012, 2013), they could have had more sales (profits), assuming the car was a success (which it usually is with this company). I said it two years ago when a new IS should have come out... they are waiting too long and losing $$$. Whatever, I'm happy the 2IS is still in production because it helps keep up our resale up.

The delay is only going to hurt the brand, and slow sales. Buyers will either (1) wait for the changed model, because they know it's coming eventually, or (2) look to another brand. By not updating the '13, makes the IS the most outdated visually and technically of the Lexus lineup. To all those thinking the lack of changes helps theirs, you're in serious denial, and missing the big picture.
Regardless, you're being a bit dramatic. We've known it was either going to be 2013 or 2014 that the new IS would be rolled out, so one year isn't really the end of the world.
I'm pretty sure that's completely normal. I think almost every iteration of every model for every make steadily declines in sales as the years go by. It is very expensive to develop an entirely new platform, so no one's going to refresh any sooner than they have to.

Based on these numbers do you feel the F-Sport Pkg Lexus introduced to the IS helped w/ sales? I guess sales would have been lower had they not introduced F-Sport?
I know that the ecomony has something to do with these figures going down but I also remember the excitement when the IS was released back in 2006 and how this model really caught the public eye. It stands to reason that Lexus would have produced more in 2006 & 2007 but why couldn't they have kept the sales up. I thought the F-Sport was suppose to help in this respect.
Another opinion of mine is I don't think Lexus pushed the IS350 enough (what a bang for the buck, you get so much more yet they produced more 250's), they also offered very little inventory of the 350 compared to the 250, it's almost like you had to beg Lexus to build a loaded 350. Then in the later years of the model they started taking away the luxury options, I could never understand that to be honest.

It's kind of nice hearing that the 2IS will still be current another year, but at the same time I'm anxiously waiting to see the 3IS. My interest is dwindling as time is dragged on and the new designs of competing brands are catching my eye... Lexus better step up and blow everyone away when the 3IS comes out. I'm not fond of the new stylistic choices Lexus has made with other models, and am curious how it will all turn out.

I doubt it. only a handful of people buy the F-sport. I havent even seen one yet in Chicago since they introduced it
