Anyone wanna give me some input on this IS250
Im looking to join the Lexus family. I just got rid of my acura tsx and im looking to upgrade. Im looking at this IS-250 but its about 5 hrs away from me. Any input would be great. Im new to lexus so is there anything to look for? Any common probs with this model? I spoke with the owner and he is the only owner, clean title, only prob is there are scratches on the front and rear bumpers and he said the hood needs repainting due to love bugs hitting the hood.

It's hard to say buy or don't buy. When we haven't driven it either. Id say just do some research and make sure it fits your standards. Get the car fax, get an auto check, look under the hood check the crush points on the fender. If you can fork up roughly $50 and your serious take it to a local dealer and have them do a certified used inspection on it. That will go over a lot of things that will assure you it's a great buy. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick replies! The main reason im looking at this is cause its in my price range and its alot cheaper than most of the is250s in my area. Considering the mileage and options on this one.
Heres a video of the paint flaws.

So what do you think guys? The seller said other than the paint its a flawless car.

well this guy keeps saying nothing major but it looks like every pannel needs to be repainted thats like 3-5k worth of paint work. Even if you only want to repait the front, rear bumper and the hood thats gonna be around 2k IF you dont do any blend work. With that color you probably will need to do blending unless perhaps you go to a Lexus Collision center where they have alot of experience in getting the paint 100% right...then again even if they do that looks like a 2008 which will have been exposed to the sun and elements for 4 years now so the color is not going to be exactly like factory. Run the carfax because if there has been previous paint work then that makes it harder.
Personally Id have the bumpers and hood repainted to match the VIN and call it a day. Some of the other marks might also be something that a detailer can get out or make less noticable. Ask for pics of the driver seat...usually when people dont post a close up its for a reason. If you have a little more cash you could get into an 08 or 09 still under warranty and extend it, on my ISF I extended to 75k and 4 years (8 yrs total, currently at 24k miles) for about 1700. If your in that situaiton then you dont really need to worry about mechanical issues if the carfax checks out because if an issue does come up it will be covered under warranty. Before my ISF I had an 07 IS250 and I think its a great car...not a fast car but it does look nice and ride nice.

It looks like a fair deal, I got mine for $18000 with 67,000 miles. The scratches would bother me though, maybe you can talk them down to $19,000 or $18,500 because of the paint. Also check the dash for stickiness during the day time, my dash gets sticky during the day time. The IS250 is also known for carbon build up in the engine but I haven't had a problem so far. I'm happy with my purchase so far but most people will probably tell you to get a 350. Good luck with your hunting.

Well it might be melting because of the hot weather, I live in Texas I guess the previous owner didn't use any auto shade. So the dash gets real sticky or melt even, do a search some people have really bad dash problems. Mine isn't too bad, only I really notice it.

Find out the preliminary stuff that would make it or break it for you. Once thats done, work on the price a little.
things you can use to get them down on price.
1. brakes
2. tires
3. leather condition
4. Make sure the navigation screen works (common problem on 07's and 08's)
5. stickyness of all the panels (doors, dash etc)

I thought it was a good deal til u mentioned having to repaint this and that. I would pass and keep lookin. Prices on 2IS's have dropped a lot since I was car hunting last year. And there's plenty on the market now with ppl upgrading to the newer f sport models or moving up to the new GS and ES's. The 2013 IS will also be here soon. Keep lookin if you're not in need of a car immediately. I looked at about 15 before I bought mine.

yea price for that 250 is very good for it's mileage, brought mines with 30k for 24k.. you tube video does no justice imo... you must check in person and that paint job alone will be costly (clearbra it after)
