Default Cam Gears Making Noises EVEN AFTER getting the TSIB Done

I had the work done on the cam gears at 19,000 and they have returned again at 73,000. I am out of warranty and the stealership says they hear the noise but will have to charge 250 if it turns out not to be the cam gears. My service advisor told me to call up Lexus Corporate and see if they may cover it.

What should I tell corporate to get them to cover this expense? This is bull**** to be honest!

Just tell corporate your situation as you explained it. That you had them worked on at 19k, and are having the issue (confirmed by the dealer) at 73k. Ask if they are willing to do a repair for you out of good will since the issue should have been fixed the first time.

I got it done around 44k and now i'm hearing it again around 70k. It only happens to me about once a month so i have just chosen to ignore it for now

I would recommend to check the history of the first time the cam gears were replaced at 19,000 miles. I helped out a guest who had two sets replaced, because the first set of parts were outdated. When I checked out the first time they had it done in their history, the part number was 13050-31162 plus the gaskets, and when looking at the new LSB, we replaced it with the new set with the part number 13050-31163 plus the gaskets. At least you can see if they used the previous set, or the new set. Hopefully that may help out your situation in contacting corporate.

This is worrying, I just had them done at 65k and hope to never hear the rattle again. It's probably a design issue...

I had mine done at around 25K and now at 70K it's back with a vengeance and I'm out of warranty too. Mine does it on about 90% of the time when I start it.

This is the very reason why I never had mine done. I've only heard the rattle 3 times in the 1.5 yrs of owning my 350. So until it starts to do it everyday, I'm gonna pass on the repair.

I still think its design flaw...lack of oiling to that area of the motor at startup.

Same vengeance! Done at 40k and back on a daily basis at 90k. :/

I'm glad mine hasn't had this issues since day one. By the way for those out of factory warranty. If you had your recall valve done powertrain is 7yrs/100k which ever come first.

Unless they expanded it a second time it was only 6 years or 100k miles.

In other words they didn't extend the time at all, just the mileage.

Good to know. I'm going to give them a call to see if they can do anything about this.
