The only thing with carmax is their selling price is about $3k higher then a private sale but less hassle and in house financing

I don't like Carmax, simply because they tried to jip me a few years ago on a trade in. I ended up getting nearly $4,000 more a year later, with 12,000 miles more on the vehicle. As for straight up buying from them, know your Ps and Qs. Know the value of the vehicle (Retail, Wholesale and and person to person value). Don't be too eager! Playing hard to get and acting indifferent goes a long way when it comes to striking a deal.

They don't budge on price. A few years ago i went in to buy my wife a new used car and i knew what i wanted and was willing to pay and they were way high on price and not willing to budge so i walked and never heard from them again and they will low ball any trade in.

Check service history on lexus.com. Make sure all recalls and TSbs have been done.

Good luck

They don't budge on their prices as stated on their site, if you're willing to buy whats on the ticket then go for it but I would keep shopping around. Be sure to check KBB, test drive a few, and compare prices on others by looking through autotrader, cars.com and you should be good

I have done all of the above... Is in between the carmax and the lexus dealer the main thing is that the one from car maxx is going for $28K with 29K miles on it and the one at the dealer is going for $22K with 81K miles on it... now lest say the one from carmaxx haven't got all the recalls on check... will it cost me to take it to the dealer to check for it and fix it? or do I have to buy the carmax warraty?? what do you suggest I should do?

Why would you have to pay for recalls?

If you buy a Lexus from Carmax make sure to get a warranty with the IS350.
