Sunroof delete questions

I pretty much NEVER use my sunroof. Plus now I see that it causes dents in the roof, too. And I recall some people estimating that the sunroof may add as much as ~75 lbs (and that's all weight at the top of the car). That sounds a little high to me, but still. Would have greatly preferred to save the money and weight.
Although a couple chicks have enjoyed/been impressed by the sunroof, so... I guess there's that.

Removing the sunroof makes the most sense to remove over rear seats since you are removing weight from the front of the car to help balance it out. Removing weight from the rear will further the front-rear weight bias, which is worse on the 350 than 250. You can probably get something made out of polycarbonate to fill it.
If you do decide to do it, I'd definitely be interested to see your findings in weight savings.

If you really want to shave weight, replace the seats. They weigh a ton, much more than you could possibly save by replacing the sunroof. Of course, you'd lose some of the "luxury" of the vehicle but so does eliminating the sunroof. Removing the back seat is pointless, IMO, it barely weighs anything as it's just leather and foam fill, not hardly any structure to it.

Please do... I've been a pretty active member for over 5 years and never seen any evidence of it, so if you've got any to show I'm all ears... (or eyes I guess)

Sorry about that.. got sidetracked a bit. Oh I know you are, Ive seen your name on a lot of threads lol. But Ive been looking around the net and forums on CL and my.is and found a couple threads on my.is referring to our car having 316hp. Couldnt for the life of me find a dyno that showed the WHP of our car. Buttt I did see that a dyno that showed a stock 2007 350z putting out 268whp which is the same as our car. So now im starting to think we actually do have 306, I always figured we had more though due to the fact that we whoop on Z's all the time. My gfs HR 350z feels a little doggish compared to mine.

The only thing I can think of is that people are referring to the IS350 in other countries, where it has a different tuning/power rating.
Lexus Australia lists the IS350 at 233kW (312hp)
Lexus Japan lists the IS350 at 234kW / 318PS (314hp)
That doesn't change that the North American-spec tuned 2GR-FSE is rated at 306hp though.

Some speculate the sunroof weighs ~60 lbs. http://my.is/forums/f88/is300-weight-reduction-252204/
I don't care for the sunroof, either. Had to wait four months for my IS350 XF (X-package, sunroof delete) and have no regrets.

You really want to increase the performance of your car (other than straight line speed)? Take a High Performance Driving Course, you'll blow the doors off of more powerful cars. These cars have far more potential in them stock than the average goober can tap.
