I've owned my 08 IS250 AWD for about a month now, and my sister has owned her 08 328i for a year and a bit. The BMW is definitely more powerful and handles better, stock for stock. Interior in the 328i leaves something to be desired, there's nothing really great about the cabin. With regard to the IS interior, the leather feels better and you can get it perforated if you get the Luxury package. The OEM trim is better too, IMO. Also, paddle shifters are a nice touch, even if you don't use them =P. There's a lot of nice little things that you can get with the luxury package too, like HID projectors instead of halogen, the rear sunshade, passenger side seat memory. On top of that, the IS has the smart keyfob, which I absolutely love.

I would also factor in repair/maintenance costs. My sister just got her oil changed at the BMW dealership, and they charged her something like $200. Granted, she only has to change her oil every 10k, but you can get an oil change for the IS done at any Toyota dealership for quite a bit less, and I believe it still shows on the service record.

The BMW is a better driver's car, but you can get pretty close with a few minor suspension upgrades on a Lexus, like front and rear F-Sport sway bars to reduce body roll, and a mild drop spring set like Tein H-Tech to lower the centre of gravity. It still won't be as fast in a straight line, but it should do better in the corners.

Wow yea I like the Lexus better but I'm disappointed it's not as fast as a 328

my friend has an 06 325i. There are so many electrical problems with that car.... like many BMW's. The lexus is much more reliable, but the BMW is more fun to drive. I'd choose Lexus over BMW any day though
