Siri in the 2IS
Hey so i just preordered iPhone 5 and I'm really curious if any of you 4S users could speculate on how good Siri works with the voice command system. Is it easy to use? Do you have to mount it, leave it in your pocket? Does it really work how it should. I guess they are suppose to be integrating text messaging and all that stuff into the new iOS.

I had a windows phone that would connect up to it and would be able to text without even looking at the phone. It could stay in my pocket. Thought that was really cool. Just thought it would be even better if i could start a text without touching my phone. Cause If I wanted to text someone it had be by hand but then I could respond without removing phone from pocket.

It works pretty good. You can leave the phone in your pocket and just use the home button to activate Siri. The car just acts as if you're making a phone call. The problem I have is that bluetooth quality is not very good and Siri will misunderstand some words and you have to correct them.

I don't have Siri on my phone, but the voice button on the steering wheel controls more than the phone, so hitting it would not automatically activate Siri. when you hit it, the Lexus asks you: "After the beep, please say a command." So, it makes sense that you have to push the home button on your iPhone to wake her.

I wish they would make it connect via Bluetooth so it would be that way.
By the way I am having a hard time using that voice control button. What all is that capable of doing? Can I say find nearest Wendy's or hospital or whatever or how does that even work. Are there only certain phrases it recognizes.

Well in iOS 6 (I'm a developer) so i've been using it for a while and they have a new option when you launch SIRI to choose your "speaker" much like AIrPlay when you can choose where your music comes from. So this can be a plus for people if they keep their cars in AUX mode. But you still have to launch SIRI by using the home button, or another trick is the use the headphone port, but that could get a bit messy.
