Wow. Just wow.

I dropped my car at the dealer 2.5 weeks ago. They replicated the problem so they did the repair. Picked my car up on Monday at lunch, took it 1.5 blocks to a Shell gas station to get gas, as soon as I got back in the car it threw a check engine light. Drove straight back to the dealer.

They checked it out, kept it overnight. Cleared the codes, no issues. Picked it up last night and no issues so far.

This has been nerve wracking. I didn't buy a Lexus to put up with this crap.

I had the same issue, drove the car for about a week after the fix and check engine light came on.

Took it back to the dealer and they couldn't replicate the issue so they clear the code.

Light came back on within days, so this time the dealer took the engine back out and found out the piston rings snapped and ended up getting another partial engine rebuild.

Any Canadians hear anything about a TSB or extended carbon build up warranty?

my factory warranty ends in july and the problem still occurs occasionally even with the engine top clean

Is this a issue for all is250's? Also if you don't have warranty will they still fix it under recall? Been reading up on this issue I rather get a 350 but the 250 gets better mpgs.

If your only reason for going for the 250 is mileage, go for the 350 anyway. The difference between the two is marginal at best.

I've only come across the rough idle once, and there have been no oil consumption issues that I'm aware of. Still, I never received the CSP or TSB letter in the mail (I live in Canada). I'm probably going to take it to the dealer sometime in the summer anyway.

I don't own an IS, I have a GS which basically has the same issue and a CSP but only in the favoured land of the USA. I have never heard anything from Lexus Canada about it, nor from any service adviser that knows about the problem because they did the top engine clean a while ago.

At this point I think Lexus Canada is just ignoring it and we're screwed. If this is really the case it's the last Toyota/Lexus I buy which is a shame really.

My local dealership fixed the misfire for me few years ago when they performed other kind of recall. My IS250 shakes again recently in front of the red lights. I am wondering if Lexus would send me another notice.

Yeah, but the problem is my IS is 7 year old. Warranty expired long time ago. If I bring my car to dealership and they will check and automatically provide me with a loaner. You know in case they say it's not covered, then I have to pay extra for the loaner and checking. This may cause $200-300 to me.

I just read your post again, what did they do to fix the misfire issue? Did they do the rebuild? or did they just do a top engine clean?
