There's not really a common mileage range from what i've seen. Some people have had it replaced early in the cars life, others much later or not at all. Mine was just replaced around 80k because it was making odd noises and starting to fail (under CPO warranty). I wouldn't replace it as a preventative measure or anything though. Some people haven't had to replace it at all and are getting up there in mileage.

I have the Lexus extended warranty and still decided to have them change the water pump while the changed the pistons. My warranty runs out in 15 months so I decided to do it now rather than gamble it would fail in the next 15 months.

Arrow 2006 IS250 AWD - 146k miles

my car failed the test they're ordering the parts and are going to call me once they're in.
I hope they offer some sort of warranty on this work, anyone know?

Also, I'm probably going to be replacing the water pump, spark plugs, and belt while they have the engine out. What should I expect to pay for this?

Anyone from Rhode Island have this done at Inskip Lexus?

Do you have to have the letter from Lexus for this service? I'm the 2nd owner and my 250 has been having a rough idle with CEL and VSC light coming on. I'm going to call Lexus tomorrow.

Nope, you don't need the letter to bring it in. They can look up your car's VIN to see if the fix applies to it or not.

Took my car in last week and now I have to wait 3 months before they can work on it. Are they suppose to do a top engine cleaning as a temporary fix while the parts come in? I also got a free tank of gas too

3 month wait? Damn thats long. Been reading it should only be 7-10 days? No way I can leave it there that long with it being my daily driver.

Just dropped my car off for the recall on Monday. They gave me a fully loaded RX350 to drive in the meantime. They said its going to take about a week. The dealership here keeps two sets of all parts in stock and installs on two cars week. Hopefully all goes good!

I got my top engine clean in November 2012 and my parts are still on order...

6 months and waiting. I might have to give my service advisor a call to see WTF is going on. This is Lexus of Riverside BTW

Lexus just called last night and said the parts are in! It was a 4 month wait. They said it should be done on Friday. They gave my wife a RX Hybrid loaner car.

Nice, Glad you finally got your parts. Looks like you won't be the only one that had to wait that long for parts tho!

my car was serviced by lexus of riverside in december and the csb was approved then. i just had the csb done a week or so ago - i had to call lexus corporate, but it was done. the wait was getting ridiculous, some five months for me and your wait has been even longer?

i had called lexus of riverside numerous times and kept getting the run around so i called lexus and was called by lexus of riverside the same day with the dealership stating that they had the parts ready for my car.

So I just got the dreaded check engine light while on the freeway. It would not accelerate at all even when I stepped on the gas. Kinda scary!

Before this, I would occasionally get the shakes when I would stop at a red light, probably every 3 or 4 months, but never got the check engine light until today.

I'm going to call Longo Lexus to schedule an appointment. Do you think the check engine light code is saved or will they have to trigger it again before they approve the engine repair?

Wow almost 114k without the problem . How did you manage to keep the carbon build up to a minimum?
