I noticed it on my brand new car too, I noticed it about a month in. The scratches are deep like that but much longer, but on the bottom, underside of the steering wheel. Probably from the **** of a watch, not finger nail. 2 years later, I still feel it, but at least it's out of sight for me.

Looks like fingernail scuffs... Exacto knife cuts are quite fine.

Those cuts on the steering wheel can even be from jewelry coming in contact with the wheel when turning. My watch has scratched my steering wheel a couple times now by doing that But yeah if it's bugging you bring it up with the dealer. Worst they can do is not fix it.

Do you wear a ring? Mine got damaged by one at 2 hours old.

When I bought mine new back in 2007, i drove about halfway from Chicago back to Michigan, noticed a cut on the top dead center of mine, turned around to show them, cause at that time I have never worn a wedding ring, and told them that someone there moving it around must have done it cause it wasn't there during test drive. They set up an appointment a week later for a new replacement. So just tell them it is unacceptable especially if you dont wear a ring.

That's ridiculous....considering Lexus service has been known as #1 world-wide, they NEED to fix this!

Where are you guys all getting this " no scatches, marks or imperfections" from... is that something that Lexus actually says? I'm new to these guys.

I'll also add that I don't wear jewelry of any kind. No rings, watches, neck things, piercings, butt plugs etc. I also have nail beds that are shorter then my finger tips and softer then paper. =p Still waiting on the dealership to get back to me. I phoned earlier yesterday and they said they are talking to Lexus corporate. I am going to guess they are trying to blame the factory for something their detail guy did so they don't have to pay for it, and that's why it's taking so long. The dealer sent me another email late yesterday saying they were still waiting.

I don't really agree with this. As the customer I don't care who pays and I don't think who pays should effect the quality of the service I receive, so just tell me you are fixing it and book me a day.

Ok, so I was driving by the dealership today and I stopped in. I showed the service manager the damage and he said they'll replace the wheel, although it is easily repairable.

So over all I am happy with the choice. Having to track them down was a bit annoying but I didn't have to pull anything out of him, which is good.
