Default Plastic over P R N D next to gear shift is peeling

Hey

The plastic strip over my P R N D is peeling from the top. I want to make sure that this was not something that was shipped with the car but was meant to be peeled off like other plastic
coverings. I assume if it is supposed to be there I can get a replacement under CPO. Took delivery of
2008 IS 250 in mid July.

Any info you can give me on this would be appreciated.

Cheers
mrjazz

About 95% of IS owners don't even notice this little cover. It's actually mean't to be taken off during PDI but no one does. Well that and since it's almost unnoticeable unless its coming up, it provides a nice little extra protection.

Didn't notice I had this piece of plastic on there until a couple months ago either. Figured I might as well try to keep it on as long as possible for an extra layer of protection.

I noticed mine start to peel off a few months ago. I think because my car is older (MY 06) the protective film was harder to remove, but after a little Goo Gone it looks brand new.

I wish I had never started picking at the edge of the protective plastic covering. After a while it started look bad, so I had to pull it all off. A little Goo Gone, and it was brand new looking. But now you can start to see the surface scratches in the clear plastic. Boo!

Almost NO ONE knows its there, I say if it isn't peeling or very scratched up leave it there, it's nice to know you have a little protection over it.
