The person who is selling the car might have collected already from the hail damage. Just buy a without having to already fix it from the get go.. Then you wont have a car that states hail damage 4 years down the line when trying to sell it. I would let an autobody shop buy the car put the time in and let it sell to someone else
Buy a car for that much to spend more money and then wait two weeks for it to get fixed. Just find a IS with a little more mileage in great shape.
I had very similar hail damage from a storm in Chicago a few months ago. It was covered by insurance, but they ended up paying around $5k for all the pdr work. I'd say it's not worth it.
Hail Damage on something like that would roughly run $12-1600 where i am through my dealers cost. Ive had vehicles BEYOND worst then that. It will come out brand new looking.
If you can get a mobile PDR to come out to the vehicle with you there and get you an on-site visual realistic estimate, add that into the cost of the car, and cross reference that with KBB. More than likely, you'll be saving thousands.
