Default Poor Tire Life?

My current IS250 C has 17k miles and front tires are going to need replacing in another 2-3k.

Is this typical for an IS? My other Lex and BMW's have had much better tire life. I'm running Bridgstone Potenza's which I assume are the original and only getting 20k seems rubbish.

Probably going to Costco and get some Michelin's.

Have you gotten an alignment recently? Our cars have some camber issues from the factory. I only got 23K out of my stock Potenzas so you shouldnt expect too much life out of them

Yeah that's a pretty common complaint with the stock Potenza's actually from what i've seen on the forums. I've been running the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires and they lasted me quite a bit longer. I've driven at least 40k on the rears and they just now need to be replaced. Mostly due to camber wear (which only really started showing in the past 5k miles or so) since our cars come from the factory with some negative camber.

Yeah, unfortunately that is normal. They even have warning stickers on the ISx50s and I think IS-Fs on the showroom floor or on the lot that states the tires may have a life expectancy of 15,000 miles.

Depends as well. Part the wear issues is also due to the stock bushings. May want to change them out if you're going to get your car aligned.

Wow, that's interesting... wish I had known about this before. Thanks for the info. Although it sounds like if we're normally pretty light on our brakes, it won't have much of an impact.

Either way, it's probably worth trying. Is this something I would have a good chance to replace when I install my F-Sport sway bars? Or would it be more involved than that?

Yes me too. Even thou the other Lexus/Toyota car uses the same type of bushings, they don't seem to be affected because the cars don't sit as low like the IS does.

You could put the F-Sport sway bars anytime want. When you replace your bushings, you will need to get the alignment done.

Yeah, I was just wondering if these bushings are fairly easily accessible while replacing the sway bars or if it was a completely separate/more involving task.

My stock Potenzas went to 21k. You are right on schedule. Once I got new tires (Hankooks), I had an alignment shop counter the negative camber. Now my new tires are not wearing on the inside and the problem seems solved.
