A DIY with pics is due. From what I hear it's a real pita. Dealers charge an arm n leg for labor

If you just take your time, its really not a big job to remove the console and armrest in one. 30 mins max.

- Remove the sat/CD changer, there's loads of threads covering this.
- Remove the rear air-vents form the console, will just pop off in one if you apply pressure to both sides.
- Remove the three wires connecting the console, two at the back one in front of the armrest compartment
- Remove the 6 bolts holding the console to the car. 2 under the stereo, two in front of the armrest compartment and two at the back under the rear airvents. All bright silver and can't be missed.
- Slide the whole console back towards the rear seats and lift.

Hope this helps

Many thanks to all the responses! It appears the diagram posted earlier, and then what m88 said are correct. I did try it myself but the front wouldnt come unclipped, and i didnt want to break anything. I was able to lift the console up enough to route the cables how i needed, though.

Problem is many of us don't want to remove the entire console... Just the console lid / armrest.

Hi, I appreciate that was just trying to help. From what I saw when I removed the console, I don't think you can remove the lid/ armrest without getting to the bottom of the console. I could be wrong.

Sorry for resurrecting this archaic thread, but I'll be removing the console tomorrow to dismantle the 12v assembly. I'll be posting a DIY with pics on how to remove it in case anyone needs it in the future.

You can in fact take the armrest off of its hinges without removing the whole console. Once you remove the rear vents there are 2 silver hinge pins that just slide right out by way of a flathead screwdriver or panel removal tool.
