HID suggestions
Hi guys, I'm new to CL and was wondering any recommendations on where I should get my HIDs? I'm trying to get my low beams a white with blue tint color (I think those are 8k?) and my fogs to be a more blueish color (10k?).
Do you guys have any suggestions as to where I should buy them? Or what bulb would work better?
Thanks.
Oh, also, how do I turn off the DRL (DAytime running lights) that are in the high beam slot?

Hello welcome to CL!. Did your car come stock with HIDs? If so, I believe you use D4S bulbs and if not, use H11 (this is for lowbeams). Anyways 6000k, 8000k, or 10000k will definately give you a blue color, the higher you go, the blue it'll get
Here's a video of my car with 6000k lowbeams and 8000k foglights
My suggestion is to get a cheap brand HID kit, which is what I did. I know many people will suggest a higher end brand, such as xenondepot, for piece of mind. I got both of my kits for a total of like $70 and they've worked perfectly for quite a while already.
To turn off your DRL lights, take it to a dealership or purchase a Toyota Techstream kit and turn it off yourself. Either way it'll be about $35 to do unless your dealership does it for you for free (mine didn't)

What year is your car? If it did not come with HIDs, then you need a certain kit. 06-10 uses H11 but I think 11+ uses a different one.
Ive had kits from a ton of vendors on here like Xenondepot, iJDMTOY, DDM Tuning, and HIDextra. Personally, I think Xenondepot is the best out of the ones I mentioned. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for.
In regards to the DRLS, they are your high beams, just at a lower intensity. You can get them turned off at the dealer. Theres a chance that they will charge you but it depends on the dealer.
Ill attach some pictures of each setup Ive had
Xenondepot 6K lows and fogs (Current Setup)
Xenondepot 6K lows and DDM Tunning 3K fogs + yellow overlays
iJDMTOY 8K Lows and Fogs (Bulbs are 8Ks but color looks like 10K IMO)
No name brand 8K lows and HIDextra 3K fogs + yellow overlays
No name 8K lows and fogs

I just ordered 6000k low beams along with yellow fogs and 68-SMD DRL's with converters to keep them from flickering (not looking forward to not having HB, but like my dad always told me "you gotta break some eggs to make a cake") and 5-SMD city lights. Hopefully it will all be here friday and I can do the install friday night at the shop. I can NOT wait! But to answer your question, Ive had 6000k in previous cars and liked the color and look, I would go with the 6.

XENONDEPOT Phillips 6500K is a great choice for the money. Give STEVE a call or PM and hes an awesome person to deal with. If you have halogen stock lights then you would need the whole HID Kit. I've ordered from ddmtuning before and there product is hit or miss on quality, flickering, light output. Stick to quality for more money and you wont regret it. Good luck!

My IS is a 2009 and it does come with the HIDs, so I dont think I'll need a whole new kit. But I think all I need is the bulb right?
