It all depends on how good the body shop done the job. If they done it properly it shouldn't be a problem. The welded part shouldn't be weaker or stronger than the original part. Judge from the picture the body shop probably will only replace the piece under the trunk opening. The trunk floor should be ok if he has the spare tire in there. It should get stack in the spare tire well...
Yes, definitely will need a picture to see what they are going to change for this repair and how they are going to proceed.

OUCH! Sorry to see and hear that. Looks like the Accord in the back is totaled.
Doesn't look like there would be any frame damage but sometimes it's hard to tell unless you actually take a look underneath. Good luck with the repairs.

Its a Galant. I am surprised to see how well the IS held up to such a hit. The Galant is smashed up while the IS SEEMS to be minor damage. However, one can only tell so much from a picture.

Well $12k in damage doesn't seem too minor to me, but i'm perfectly OK, so the car did its job very well!

After everyone checked if everyone was OK, I asked him if he fell asleep, or if he was texting. He said neither. He was in a bit of shock and never really said anything. Just not paying attention I guess. I have yet to pick up a copy of the police report, so maybe he gave the officer a reason.
Sounds like its going to be about 3 weeks before I get her back. Until then, I'll enjoy my "Premium" rental from Enterprise....a Honda Accord
